Welcome! Brown Bag Press publishes ebooks for teachers who are using computers in limited resource situations such as one-computer classrooms, limited web access, little or no computer lab time, low-budget and so on. In other words, we publish ebooks for about 80% of the K-12 population in the United States. Most of our material is aimed at K-8 teachers because they more often have students using computers in their classroom while high school teachers more often use computers as personal productivity tools. However, much of our material can be adapted for use in high schools, by home schoolers, by people teaching teachers and by teachers in other countries. We're calling our effort "Brown Bag Press" because we're a group of working teachers and lack the time and resources to put fancier covers on our work. So they tend to be plain, useful and economical, just like the brown lunch bags in which I took my lunch as a kid. Our publications are called "ebooks" because they're available on disk for Windows *or Macintosh platforms, as well as paper. They consist of our writing as well as compilations of material found and the WWW and from other sources.
Brown Bag Press has grown out of the resources developed by SchoolHouse Mac
and some of the links are the same. However, the goal of this site is specifically to showcase or ebooks and provide some samples as available while SchoolHouse Mac's home site has lots of free material and help for teachers.
