One of the changes which seems to be a combination of the growth of the web and AOL and Apple Computers' problems is that fewer and fewer new Macintosh programs are available. Here's a few oldies but goodies....

Element-ary Adventure - a great science program, probably for about fourth through eighth grade or older.
Make-A-Bird - Learn about birds... for elementary or middle school science.

Toucan Tom's Problem Solving - for elementary math.
Mathematics History HTB - for middle school and up or as a teacher resource.
Readers Guide to Mathematics - for middle school and up or as a teacher resource.

Tools & Help

Go to our Tools page for places to download the following useful programs.

1. You should be able to download the following files, double-click them and supply the password to open them. However, on some Macs, the files are downloaded as MacBinary or binhexed files which need an additional step to open. The easiest way is to get Aladdin's freeware Stuffit Expander. You can drop the file you downloaded onto Stuffit Expander and it will open it to the point where you supply the password. If your browser says the file you're donwloading is unknown, save it anyway and use Stuffit Expander.

2. We've started a PC version of Teachers Mac Plus, called Teachers PC....what else! It and several of our other materials are in .pdf format. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is available to Mac, Windows 95 and other platforms. As many documents are appearing on the web in this flexible format, you'll probably need it for other things as well.

3. We frequently make HyperCard stacks available. They can be used with the HyperCard Player which should have been on your Macintosh.

Teachers Mac Plus

is a subscription ezine we've been publishing for six years. This is site 2 which will contain all the material found on the September, 1997, disk based version, along with everything else we can squeeze in. By maintaining two web sites, we can leave each issue online a little longer.

Our original goal was to collection programs, lesson plans and ideas, reviews, how-tos, computer help and lots of other material aimed at teachers struggling to use computers in one-computer classrooms. Despite all the wonderful technology, many schools are still working at the low end of the spectrum with minimal training and resources. Our goal is to help them!

With the growth of the web, we're adding a new componet, finding and sharing the most exciting resources available for educators.

This particular page is for subscribers, although anyone is welcome to use the links found here and other material on our site. If you're interested in subscribing or finding out more about this site or SchoolHouse Mac, check the subscription information below.
